Flowerbed Project
News release to Herald-Times-Reporter:
Attention area gardening enthusiasts. Friends of Mariners Trail (FOMT) is starting a new campaign this year to help beautify Mariners Trail. Along the trail there are numerous flowerbeds that need tending. The goal is to see these flowerbeds displaying splashes of color, interesting composition and accents to our beautiful lakeshore.
FOMT is looking for individuals, groups or businesses that would like to adopt a flowerbed. What this entails is planting and maintaining the designated area from Memorial Day to Labor Day. FOMT will provide money toward the purchase of plants and flowers.
There is no cost to sponsor a flowerbed, other than the pledge to plant and take care of it. Each group would have a small sign in the flowerbed indicating their sponsorship and the satisfaction of knowing they helped maintain the trail. In conjunction with our 5th annual August Trail-a-Thon, we will be having the flowerbeds recognized by those participating in the event.
Flowerbeds will be provided on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in signing up to care for a flower bed you can download the application by clicking either link below. If you'd like more information, please send inquiries to marinerstrail@charter.net or FOMT, P.O. Box 2341, Manitowoc, WI 54221-2341.
