The Friends of Mariners Trail are pleased to announce the fifth annual Mariners Trail-a-Thon coming on Saturday, August 9. Please join us along with the Manitowoc County Track Club as we present a Trail walk along the shores of Lake Michigan, a 5-mile Fun Run also along the Lake, and a radio auction of great items donated by local businesses. Enjoy food and refreshments along the jewel of the lakeshore, Mariners Trail. The event begins and ends at the Woodland Drive Wayside, across from Aurora Medical Center.
Last year, we had more than 100 walkers, had a great radio auction, made more people aware of the trail, and raised several thousand dollars, with every dollar going back into Mariners Trail promotion and improvements.
EVENTS OF THE DAY INCLUDE:
P TRAIL WALK Participants will walk along beautiful Mariners Trail a distance of up to 5 miles. They will receive a free event t-shirt, and water will be provided along the walk route. Free food will be available before and after the walk at the start/end point, the Woodland Drive wayside across from Aurora Medical Center. Individuals, families and teams can all sign up to walk in this event. Registration runs from 8:00 to 10:30 am, with an optional group start at 9:00 am. Pre-registration is $15; day of the event, $17. Family registration, $30; day of event, $35. Registration forms can be found here.
P FUN RUN Trail Fun Run: Participants will run a 5 mile round trip route going south from the Woodland Drive Wayside. They will receive a free event t-shirt, water, and snacks before and after. The Run will begin at 9:00 am. Pre-registration is $15, and day of the event, $17. Registration forms can be found here.
P RADIO AUCTION With the help of radio station WOMT (Walk On Mariners Trail), we will be auctioning off items donated by local businesses. Items will be on display at the Trail-a-Thon site and announced on the radio. They will also be listed on our website here. Interested buyers will bid on these items in person at the Woodland Drive Wayside, or by telephone. We may also have a silent auction held on site.
P TEAM SPONSORSHIP Businesses and organizations are encouraged to sponsor corporate teams which will participate in the walk or run. The regular team rate, with advance registration, is $150 for up to 15 participants. Those with sponsorships worth $100 or more will receive a special rate of $125 for a team to walk.

P JOIN THE FRIENDS OF MARINERS TRAIL The Friends of Mariners Trail will be promoting their organization by signing people up to join the group and by taking orders for special Friends of Mariners Trail T-shirts, sweatshirts, commemorative bricks or park benches.
P Why a Trail-a-Thon? We feel that Mariners Trail is a true jewel of the lakeshore, and we would like to keep it shining. The Friends of Mariners Trail provides financial support for immediate improvements to the Trail, and is building a fund to be used for larger, long term improvements, such as repaving. This is one of our two major annual fundraisers.
Our second goal is to simply get families and groups out on Mariners Trail. We would like more people to see what an wonderful asset our communities have in Mariners Trail.
