People are needed in the area of set up and take down, auction help, and food/water distribution, as well as for other jobs. Please call Judy Corrado at 684-0828 if you would like to volunteer. Our Trail-a-Thon is our big money-raising event of the year. Beside a Trail walk, it includes a 5-mile Fun Run and Radio Auction, and takes place at the Woodland Drive Wayside, across from Aurora Health center. Click here for more information.

Newly Planted Flower Beds Now Sprouting
(posted

Twenty
colorful flower beds along the northern part of Mariners Trail are in place
thanks to the participants in the FOMT Flower Bed Project. Dozens of
community members have spent hours weeding, planting, and watering the past
three or four weeks. Signs will be in place soon telling who is responsible
for each of the beds. The next time you're on that part of the Trail, slow down
and have a look at the great work that has been done.
"Thank you!" to all involved.
Trail Map News
(posted 5/29/08)
At the May FOMT meeting on May 28, Judy Goodchild reported that the trail map project is nearing completion. The advertising cutoff will be soon, and the maps will then be printed in time for distribution before the summer travel season is in full swing.
The new maps, featuring Mariners Trail and Rawley Point Trails, will have essentially the same format as the 2005 map. They will be placed in distribution boxes along Mariners Trail, and passed out to local businesses and the state park. (Mariners Trail has three map distribution points, the two commemerative brick locations and the Woodland Drive Wayside.)
The map project is an undertaking of the Friends of Point Beach, Pont Beach State Forest, and the recreation Manitowoc and Two Rivers departments, along with FOMT.

2009 Photo Contest Rules Announced
The rules and guidelines for the FOMT 2009 Calendar Photo Contest have been announced. Essentiallly, photographers have until October 1, 2008, to submit photographs taken along the Manitowoc-Two Rivers lakeshore shoreline.
Major changes in the contest include an extension in the area in which photos may be taken. No longer will the photographer be limited to the Trail area proper. Also, only digital photos will be accepted: those using film camera will be required to have their photos digitized before submission. The contest committee also stressed that photos showing activity along the Trail are especially being sought.
Complete contest instructions, along with the entry form, are available here.
